Al Haramain Watch Warns of Attempts upon Sheikh Salman al-Awda’s Life

The International Commission to Watch Saudi Administration of Muslim Places ‘’ Al Haramain Watch’’ has warned the Saudi regime against harming the life of Sheikh Salman al-Awda and demanding his immediate release. Abdullah, the son of Sheikh Salman al-Awda, said on Twitter: “I announce to the Arab Islamic nation and the world that my father Dr. Salman al-Awda is undergoing a slow killing inside the prison in Riyadh, due to the alarming deterioration of his health in recent months and severe medical negligence! We hold the authorities fully responsible for everything that happens to my father’’

Abdullah added, “There is deliberately the absence of my father from sight and preventing contacts completely, and the interruption of visits, but in the court session in the spring , mid-November, the family saw him face to face at last and seemed weak and distracted and this confirms the policy of deliberate killing.”

The Commission stressed that al-Awda is considered one of the symbols of Islamic moderation and one of the most daring Saudi religious scholars, his political jurisprudence has cost him imprisonment and subjected him to harassment, and has made significant contributions to advocacy, fatwa and charitable work. On Friday, March 15, 2013, al-Awda addressed an open letter to the Saudi regime, particularly the Interior Ministry, demanding that the prisoners of conscience be released, and that the growing popular anger over the detainees file be absorbed, in order to prevent the risk of sedition, and he used a calm and advisable dialogue in his speech, according to many Religious scholars, jurists and Saudi citizens.

Al Haramain Watch confirms that the Saudi regime is floundering and holding back those who refuse to support the decisions and positions of the Saudi political government from the preachers and many preachers have been arrested for the same reasons. Saudi Arabia continues to use Islamic platforms in the two holy mosques in Saudi Arabia in politics and spreading hatred against certain Islamic countries that do not conform to the policies of the Saudi foreign regime.
Al Haraman Watch demands the Saudi administration not to politicize Islamic platforms in the two holy mosques and demands the release of all preachers from Saudi prisons immediately, and calls on Islamic countries and governments to participate in the management of Islamic places in Saudi Arabia after the Saudi regime continued to use bad files of Islamic worship.

Al Haramain Watch aims to ensure that Saudi Arabia manages the two holy mosques and Islamic sites in a proper manner that preserves the past and the present image of Islam. The commission will apply this aim by advising Riyadh through an Islamic advisory board, engaging Muslim countries in managing the holy rituals, and stopping the obliteration of Islamic identity in Mecca and Medina, which is carried out by Saudi Arabia through the unlimited urban expansion that destroyed many of these sites and eliminated the Islamic presence in them. The commission will also prevent the Saudi Arabia singling out the decision over the holy rituals, which may affect the safety of pilgrims and Umrah. It also aims to prevent the unconvincing closure of rituals such as visiting dignitaries or celebrities or guests of Saudi Arabia. In addition, it will monitor any violation of Saudi Arabia to any pilgrim during his visit to the holy sites. Finally, it will ensure a fair distribution of Hajj and Umrah quotas on Muslim countries without any favouritism or mediation.

The International Commission to Watch Saudi Administration of Muslim places “Al Haramain Watch” is a global organization that monitors the ways and means of Saudi Arabia’s administration of the holy sites in Mecca and Medina, especially the Haramain, including the Islamic historical sites in the Kingdom. The Commission’s work is based on an Islamic reference, and is keen on the interests of Muslims from the ocean to the Gulf and all areas of Islamic presence.
