Al Haramain Watch : Saudi Arabian authorities Continue to Arrest Palestinian, Yemeni and Egyptian Pilgrims

The International Commission to Watch Saudi Administration of Muslim Places ‘’Al Haramain Watch’’   has accused Saudi Arabia of continuing to arrest pilgrims of different nationalities during the Umrah and Hajj season 2019 for political reasons. Al Haramain Watch said that it had received many complaints from citizens about the loss of their sons in Saudi Arabia during the seasons of Hajj and Umrah, where one of the mothers of Yemeni detainees during the complaint to the Commission about the reason for the delay in filing the complaint and said that she felt very fear for her son and she had contact with many officials whether Yemenis or Saudis and everyone promised to pursue the Saudi authorities, but one answered.

The commission described the complaints of Muslims as a major scandal for the Saudi regime as it deliberately stirs up opponents of the Saudi regime or political opponents of allies with Saudi Arabia by exploiting the need of Muslims in the world for Hajj and Umrah. The commission accused the Saudi authorities of violating human rights, especially the right to worship freely, confiscate freedom of opinion, arrest and forcibly disappear pilgrims without providing information about their places of detention, confessing their presence in Saudi prisons, or allowing relatives to visit them and reassure them.

Al Haramain Watch called for the establishment of an independent commission of inquiry to investigate the circumstances of the enforced disappearance of a number of pilgrims during 2019 and work for the immediate release of all detainees. The Commission held Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Saudi government responsible for the lives of all enforced disappeared and detainees in Saudi prisons.

The international body said it now the time to involve Muslim countries, institutions and governments in the management of holy sites in Saudi Arabia to ensure that places of worship in Saudi Arabia are not politicized as is currently the case.

Al Haramain Watch aims to ensure that Saudi Arabia manages the two holy mosques and Islamic sites in a proper manner that preserves the past and the present image of Islam. The commission will apply this aim by advising Riyadh through an Islamic advisory board, engaging Muslim countries in managing the holy rituals, and stopping the obliteration of Islamic identity in Mecca and Medina, which is carried out by Saudi Arabia through the unlimited urban expansion that destroyed many of these sites and eliminated the Islamic presence in them. The commission will also prevent the Saudi Arabia singling out the decision over the holy rituals, which may affect the safety of pilgrims and Umrah. It also aims to prevent the unconvincing closure of rituals such as visiting dignitaries or celebrities or guests of Saudi Arabia. In addition, it will monitor any violation of Saudi Arabia to any pilgrim during his visit to the holy sites. Finally, it will ensure a fair distribution of Hajj and Umrah quotas on Muslim countries without any favouritism or mediation.

The International Commission to Watch Saudi Administration of Muslim places “Al Haramain Watch” is a global organization that monitors the ways and means of Saudi Arabia’s administration of the holy sites in Mecca and Medina, especially the Haramain, including the Islamic historical sites in the Kingdom. The Commission’s work is based on an Islamic reference, and is keen on the interests of Muslims from the ocean to the Gulf and all areas of Islamic presence.
