The International Commission to Watch Saudi Administration of Muslim places “Al Haramain Watch” : Hajj Season 2018 in Real Danger

Malaysia March 20, 2018

The International Commission to Watch Saudi Administration of Muslim places “Al Haramain Watch” issued a statement on Monday saying that Hajj 2018 is in real danger due to the failure of the Saudi administration to manage Hajj during the previous years and the violations of the right of Muslims to practice their worship freely and use the Hajj and Umrah file as a pressure on governments that contradict the policies of the Kingdom.

The Commission revealed that it had received hundreds of complaints from Muslims of all nationalities who spoke about depriving them of performing Hajj and Umrah, arresting, deporting and interrogating them in a very humiliating manner, either because of their political affiliations that do not conform to the political vision of the Kingdom or because of the high prices imposed by the Saudi authorities As salaries to the princes of the ruling family and are not spent on infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia to avoid further disasters.

The Commission affirmed that it has serious fears that Saudi Arabia will arrest and deport pilgrims and deprive Muslims and Muslim countries of performing Hajj for political reasons as it has done during the previous seasons. This contravenes the international laws and treaties guaranteeing the human right to practice worship, especially Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights And article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

The Commission warned that there is a major imbalance in the security and safety systems in the two holy places, which can lead to disasters during the pilgrimage season this year, which led to the imbalance in the deaths of thousands of pilgrims over the past years as a result of negligence and default in the application of international security and safety standards, and stressed that Al Haramain Watch believes that these systems need to be monitored and reviewed to ensure that they comply with international standards.

Saudi Arabia has punished all Islamic countries for not supporting Saudi Arabia politically and exploiting Hajj and Umrah as a means of extortion and pressure to achieve its goals, aspirations and political ambitions. The Hajj quotas for African countries were reduced by 9% and the West Asia quotas by 5%.

The Commission stressed that the negligence of the current administration and its lack of knowledge in the application of modern scientific methods in the management of the Hajj season will affect the coming season. The Commission has received many complaints about the new fingerprint program implemented by Saudi Arabia through Tasheel Saudi Arabia on Umrah this month. The centres of fingerprinting are far from the city centres and few and there is not enough staff to receive pilgrims.

Al Haramain Watch stressed that if Saudi Arabia continues to monopolize all major and important decisions on how to manage Islamic holy sites,  not to participate and consult with any Islamic country or organization in how to administer Hajj and Umrah, and marginalize Islamic societies and scholars throughout the world by successive Saudi governments , The destruction of Saudi Arabia to important Islamic sites and sites during the development of the infrastructure of Hajj and Umrah, Saudi neglect of the infrastructure of the Hajj and Umrah worn out and the politicization of Hajj and the arrest and deportation of Muslims, the Hajj season of 2018 will be a disastrous season.

In its statement, the Commission called for the participation of Islamic governments and institutions in the management of Islamic holy places in Saudi Arabia because their experts and scientists are the best able to succeed the next pilgrimage season after the failure of the Saudi administration in the management of Islamic holy places.

It is noteworthy that The International Commission to Watch Saudi Administration of Muslim places “Al Haramain Watch” was established in the year 2018 with the aim of exerting pressure to ensure Saudi Arabia’s good management of the holy sites and the preservation of Islamic historical sites and the non-politicization of the places of Hajj and Umrah. The authority says that its depth is represented by all Islamic countries, and that it is keen to ensure that Saudi Arabia does not harm holy sites, whether it is inefficient management or any kind of management based on policies linked to individuals or influential people.
