Al Haramain Watch Receives Complaints from Egyptian Hajj and Umrah Companies

The Complaints Department at The International Commission to Watch Saudi Administration of Muslim places “Al Haramain Watch” has received a number of complaints from five Hajj and Umrah companies in Egypt about the reduction in the number of people who have received Umrah visas over the last two months and the high visa prices.

Al Haramain Watch said that the complaints about the issuance of new regulations for Umrah in Egypt and will be implemented by the companies of Hajj and Umrah in Egypt, and among these regulations is to raise prices to reach about 10.000 Egyptian pounds per person. The Commission has received a complaint from one of the Hajj and Umrah companies in Egypt ,”we have stopped receiving Umrah visa bookings until a final stand is taken on the fees. The Umrah season will be catastrophic by all standards and the turnout of people who intend to perform Umrah will be very poor compared to previous years.”

Another Egyptian tourist office said in a complaint submitted to the authority that there are tourist offices that have launched Umrah programs this year at cheap prices and large differences in advertised prices, indicating that there are Saudi offices that facilitate the transactions of some Umrah offices for money.

The Egyptian social activist, On the social networking site Facebook , said,” if the price of the flight ticket is 8000 Egyptian pounds and the fee of Umrah 2000 SAR and the fees of the Ministry of Tourism and the expenses of the tourism company, this means that no one will go to perform Umrah this year, and God will take revenge from  whoever puts impossible conditions and prevents Muslims from visiting Makkah.

Al Haramain Watch  has condemned the large increase in the price of Umrah in Egypt, saying that it is not permissible to profit from the poor Muslims in Egypt and to transfer these funds to the ruling family in Saudi Arabia.

In its statement, Al Haramain Watch called for the participation of governments and Islamic institutions in the management of the holy places in Saudi Arabia to ensure that Saudi Arabia does not exploit the Muslim need to perform these important rituals and to achieve sound management based on justice after Saudi Arabia failed to manage the holy places in Saudi Arabia.

It is noteworthy that The International Commission to Watch Saudi Administration of Muslim places “Al Haramain Watch” was established in 2018 with the aim of exerting pressure to ensure Saudi Arabia’s good management of the holy sites and the preservation of Islamic historical sites, the non-politicization of Hajj and Umrah.
Al Haramain Watch says that its depth is represented by all Islamic countries and it is keen to ensure that Saudi Arabia does not harm holy sites, whether it is inefficient management or any kind of management based on policies linked to individuals or influential people.
